Khabib Nurmagomedov was born on September 20, 1988, in the town of Sildi in the Tsumadinsky District of modern-day Dagestan, Russia, before migrating to the state capital Makhachkala as a child and then briefly to Kiev, Ukraine, where he trained at Combat Dobro in his later years. He is the second of three children, with a younger sister Amina and an elder brother Magomed. His father’s family had relocated to Kirovaul from Sildi in the Tsumadinsky District, where his father had turned the bottom floor of their two-story building into a gym. Nurmagomedov grew up with his siblings and cousins in the same house. When he saw people training at the gym, he became interested in martial arts.
