Janene, hailing from Kelowna, Canada, has crafted a remarkable journey from a well-rounded athlete to a sought-after stuntwoman in Hollywood. Let’s dive into the various chapters of her life, exploring the twists and turns that led her to where she is today.
Growing up as the youngest of three children, Janene embraced a diverse athletic upbringing, engaging in a multitude of sports and dance. However, it was her prowess in competitive horseback riding, reaching a national level in show jumping and three-day eventing, that stood out.
Transitioning from the competitive horse circuit, Janene found herself in Victoria BC, pursuing studies in Biology and English. Here, she not only delved into academics but also ventured into the realms of personal training, fitness modeling, and even tried her hand at mixed martial arts.
By 2005, Janene’s experience in training animals and horses became the stepping stone for her career as a stuntwoman. Initially involved in training movie horses and providing riding lessons, she swiftly moved to doubling actors in their horse-related scenes.
Janene’s versatility as an athlete paved the way for her to double for some of Hollywood’s biggest action stars, including Angelina Jolie, Jessica Biel, Paula Patton, and Carla Gugino. Notable films like ‘Salt,’ ‘Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol,’ and ‘Twilight Breaking Dawn’ showcase her prowess in the stunt industry.
Beyond the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, Janene finds solace in activities like yoga, snowboarding, and hiking with her dogs. Her commitment to charity work is evident, with support for Equine Therapeutic Farms, aiding children with Autism and other disabilities.
While Janene continues to dazzle on-screen, she harbors aspirations to step behind the camera. Her standout moment came in 2011 when she won a World Taurus Stunt Award for ‘Best Overall Stunt Performed by a Woman,’ doubling for Angelina Jolie in ‘Salt.’
Adding a touch of humor, Janene shares her unique origin – “My Mom is from Texas and my Dad is from the Middle East. Usually, these two come together and make war. My Mom and Dad came together and made me.”
Janene’s journey is a testament to resilience, versatility, and a passion for the extraordinary. As she continues to make waves in the stunt industry, her story serves as an inspiration for those daring to follow their dreams.
