Preliminary results from the Pakistan election reveal PTI-affiliated candidates securing a marginal lead, closely pursued by contestants from PML-N and PPP. The release of results commenced approximately 12 hours post the conclusion of polling for national and provincial assemblies on Thursday. Unfortunately, the electoral process was marred by violence perpetrated by armed groups and drew criticism for the widely condemned suspension of mobile phone services, leading to allegations of “political engineering.” The military reports at least 12 fatalities and 39 injuries nationwide due to attacks aimed at disrupting the voting process.
