Places to Visit in Weimar Germany

In Central Germany, Weimar is the birthplace of Weimar Classicism. Goethe and Schiller Monument are located right in front of the German National Theater, and Schiller Museum is close to Goethe’s Baroque residence. Alongside the famous writers and their works, the Bauhaus Museum Weimar can be an excellent place to view work by Walter Gropius. For those who love art, The Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe Park is the ideal spot to go.

Weimar Germany

There are a variety of museums and other places in Weimar to discover. The Goethe National Museum includes works created by Goethe and Schiller. The Nietzsche-Archiv exhibits the life of philosophers Friedrich Nietzsche, and the Anna Amalia Library holds the writings of famous writers. There are many other historical sites in the city, such as the Roman House constructed in 1776 by Johann Wolfgang Goethe in 1776.

The main Rococo hall is worth a visit, but visitors cannot browse the old volumes. The top part of the building was destroyed by a fire in 2004 and was rebuilt with utmost care. The Roman House is among the most ancient neoclassic homes in the city, and Goethe created it. However, the house is only accessible to a limited number of people each day.
